"How High the Moon": Les Paul/Mary Ford cover (instrumental) by David LeggettMost people nowadays know who Les Paul is because of a famous rock guitar that bears his name and has been used and preferred by musicians like Slash, Carl Perkins, Jimmy Page, and many many others. Some of the older ones are worth a lot of money (the red ones from 1958 and 1959 are about as expensive as an electric guitar gets). Les helped design these famous guitars, working with Gibson Musical Instruments...he also innovated a lot of studio sound techniques, many of which were years ahead of their time. I offer this as a tribute to "Rhubarb Red" himself, a man whose guitars have put the "rock" in "rock and roll" for years...RIP, Les Paul...

Les PAUL & Mary FORD " Song In Blue " !!!RARE OLDIES SOUNDIES WITH MR LES PAUL & MISS MARY FORD ! Lester William Polsfuss (June 9, 1915 August 12, 2009)— known as Les Paul — was an American jazz and country guitarist, songwriter and inventor. He was a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which "made the sound of rock and roll possible". He is credited with many recording innovations, including overdubbing (also known as sound on sound), delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects, and multitrack recording. His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many of the guitarists of the present day. He recorded with his wife Mary Ford in the 1950s and they sold millions of records. Among his many honors, Paul is one of a handful of artists with a permanent, stand-alone exhibit in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He is prominently named by the music museum on its website as an "architect" and a "key inductee" along with Sam Phillips and Alan Freed. Les Paul and Mary Ford - Hummingbird (1955)Charted at #7 on Billboard Hot 100 in July 1955. Also #17 for Frankie Laine in September 1955 (#16 UK). Also recorded by the Chordettes. Original Billboard review: "A charming folk-type tune gets a sparkling setting by Paul, and a lilting warble by Miss Ford. There's heavy competition on the song, but it's the scintillating performance that lifts this version up over the field." Written by Don Robertson. B-side is "Goodbye My Love".
