Mr Music Man - Tommy Edwards - 1958 played on a 1950's Garrard RC88/4 changerI thought this was a nice Tommy Edwards tune as most all his are, and could not find it posted. The record is not in the best of condition and I did the best I could with it to elminate some of the surface noise and scratches. I decided to upload anyway with no filtering of any kind as the true vinyl people know how to mentally filter out scratches to listen to a good tune. I really like this new found Garrard turntable, it is in remarkable like new condition, and operates like new. It doesn't even hesitate cycling on 16 RPM. I really like the 1950's styling of this changer with its chocolate brown finish and blonde finished base. It really has that classic 1950's hi-fi look

Tommy Edwards - 1951 version of "It's All In The Game"Tommy made his first recording of "It's All In The Game" This was a very fine recording with lots of strings to back up his velvet voice. It was charted at #18 that year. In 1958 he would update the song with an uptempo arangement and be one of the biggest hits of the year. But I like this one just as much.

Tommy Edwards - Please Mr. Sun (1959)Charted at #11 on Billboard Hot 100 in February 1959. This was a remake of a song that Tommy had originally charted with back in 1952 (at #22 Hot 100, #18 R&B). The 1952 version was slower. Johnnie Ray also had a #6 hit with it in January 1952 while Perry Como charted at #12 with his version in February 1952. A later version by the Vogues made it to #48 in September 1966. Original Billboard review: "Edwards figures to score again with either of these rockaballad treatments. Both are smooth and warbled with huge appeal. It's hard to pick a top side, and both will likely reach the charts. It should be a big platter." Written by Sid Frank and Ray Getzov. B-side is "The Morning Side of the Mountain" which charted at #27.
